Modern medicine is divided into preventive, curative and palliative medicine. Palliative care is, as defined by the World Health Organization, an approach that improves the quality of life of patients and their families facing problems associated with life-threatening illness, through the prevention and relief of suffering by means of early identification and impeccable assessment and prevention of pain and other problems, physical, psychosocial and spiritual. Palliative care is interdisciplinary in its approach, and its scope includes the patient, family and community. Perhaps more than ever, teamwork has become an important prerequisite for a modern, high-quality work in the health and abilities of team work today is one of the most important competencies of physiotherapists. It is known that consistent communication within the expert team encourages patients to better cooperation with the team, and in cooperation and satisfaction of patients, including the one on palliative care, is almost as important to the daily work in a healthy and efficient team encourages and employee satisfaction. Many aspects of palliative medicine are applicable prior to and during the illness. About half of patients in palliative medicine has some of oncological diseases, but is also a significant number of patients with dementia, stroke and end-stage liver disease and heart.
