Abstract
Virus herpes simplex je široko rasprostranjeni virus koji uzrokuje bolest samo kod ljudi. Postoje dva tipa HSV: HSV-1 i HSV-2. HSV-1 najčešće uzrokuje oralni, a HSV-2 genitalni herpes, iako sve više slučajeva genitalnog herpesa u svijetu uzrokuje HSV-1. Oba tipa virusa mogu zaraziti velik broj osoba i uzrokovati različite kliničke bolesti i manifestacije.
