Abstract
Kada govorimo o bolestima gastroenterološkog sustava, potrebno je imati na umu da iste nose sa sobom niz brojnih poremećaja koji se odražavaju i na ostale organske sustave jer hrana i nutrijenti nisu potreba samo probavnom sustavu. Kako bismo bolje razumjeli proces apsorpcije neophodnih hranjivih tvari u organizam, nije na odmet poznavati anatomiju i fiziološke funkcije pojedinih probavnih organa i onih njima pridodanih. Brojni su faktori koji mogu dovesti do po- remećaja u radu GI sustava, noseći sa sobom potrebu što ranijeg dijagnosticiranja pojedinih bo- lesti. Kada je bolest već nastupila, nerijetko dolazi do disbalansa vitalnih nutrijenata pa je potre- bno doskočiti pravilnoj procjeni nutritivnog statusa kod pacijenta kako bi se sveopće stanje or- ganizma moglo poboljšati i samim time unaprijediti kvalitetu života oboljelog. Sa ispravnim i pravovremenim djelovanjem i liječenjem, prognoze mogu biti zadovoljavajuće naravi.
