Abstract
Samoubojstvo definiramo kao namjerno ubojstvo samoga sebe te ono predstavlja veliki javnozdravstveni problem današnjice. Većina svjetskih zemalja svrstava ga u deset najčešćih uzroka smrti, a rezultati europskih zemalja pokazuju da je broj samoubojstava viši od broja smrti koje su prouzročile prometne nesreće. Zbog velike učestalosti, naziva se i „tiha epidemija“. Svakih 40 sekundi jedna osoba počini samoubojstvo, što je godišnje na globalnoj razini oko 800 000 smrti. Suicidalno ponašanje je... More kompleksno ponašanje koje uključuje čitav niz autodestruktivnih ponašanja. Motivi su različiti: osamljenost i tuga, traženje pomoći, bijeg od problema, osjećaj olakšanja, traženje pažnje, stres, problemi u emocionalnim odnosima, pokušaj utjecaja na određenu osobu ili u cilju da bi se druge ražalostilo. Etiologija je raznolika te uključuje niz rizičnih čimbenika koji u međusobnom djelovanju uzrokuju samoubojstvo ili njegov pokušaj. Tematika samoubojstva je vrlo kompleksna stoga zahtijeva interdisciplinarni pristup i velik broj stručnjaka različitih profila da zajedničkim snagama djeluju na problem. Prevencija se provodi na tri razine zdravstvene zaštite kroz zdravstvene programe, no težište prevencije leži u obitelji. Less
