Abstract
Ugljikohidrati škrob i glukoza su osnovne sastavnice naše prehrane i oksidacija ugljikohidrata je središnji metabolički proces za stvaranje energije za stanični rad. Također ove biomolekule imaju ulogu u izgradnji strukturnih elemenata u stanici. Stoga je navedena njihova kemijska podjela te su istaknuti osnovni predstavnici svake pojedine skupine. U ovom radu će biti riječi o značenju nasljednih metaboličkih bolesti u kliničkoj medicini, o načelima dijagnoze i preporučenim laboratorijskim... More dijagnostičkim postupcima te o mogućnostima liječenja ove skupine bolesti. Poremećaji u metabolizmu ugljikohidrata nastaju većinom radi manjkavih funkcija enzima i manjim dijelom radi nedostatka molekula nosača, receptora ili signalnih molekula. Opisani su monogenski poremećaji metabolizma jednostavnih i složenih šećera poput glikogenoza, fruktozurije, galaktozemije, mukopolisaharidoza, oligosaharidoza i od poligenskih bolesti Dijabetes.
